Seeds and Love together is a 501(c)-3 non-profit organization that serves to help people in extreme need. God has lead our missions to Nicaragua, and now Honduras, where we are currently focused on helping multiple villages in the Miskito territory. With each village we’ve started with eliminating the “skinny season” – a season of starvation – by walking along side the people to produce adequate food supplies and seed for the future. We then work with the villagers to address the lack of clean water and medical needs and supplies. We have used our resources in the states to send them manual well digging equipment, construction materials and supplies and clean buckets, which makes drastic differences in the health of the people. The river and tributaries from where they previously got their water were always at risk of carrying parasites, bacteria and viruses. Waterborne illnesses have been markedly reduced through the introduction of clean water well installations. Finally, we’ve been working with a local Miskito medical student to get plant a full time doctor in the village of Kisalaya that can help with the importing of medicine and supplies. It’s not uncommon to lose a life to Malaria or other highly treatable infections. While the average income for a working individual – of which there are VERY few in the area we serve – is around a dollar a day. To have a doctor in Kisalaya would provide profound benefits for the village and its nearly 2,000 residents. We also work with the local pastors of Kisalaya and Kururia, providing training with an emphasis on making the Scriptures relatable to Miskito culture and life.
